The Sessions: embodied community gatherings
Listening | Moving | Dreaming
Moving Sessions: a space to explore motion and dance. Moving Sessions are open-level dance classes hosted on the first and third Tuesday of each month. In contrast to a traditional dance technique class, Moving Sessions are focused not on codified shapes and styles, but instead on the connection between body and mind. Using improvisation-based prompts, individuals are encouraged to let imagination guide their bodies through new and unexpected movement pathways. We all have bodies that move and think and dance – Moving Sessions are meant as an open, playful, imaginative space to deepen your relationship with your body and how it moves.

And you ghosts rise blue
Deseret Experimental Opera presents And you ghosts rise blue, an im/material opera by Interdisciplinary Arts Collective. Enter the Rift with us…
And you ghosts rise blue is an experimental pasticcio opera in three acts. Join us in the Masonic Temple for an evening of movement, sound, and light as we open a rift in the space-time continuum and call in voices past and future, real and unreal. The voices – sounding alongside a collaborative collective of dancers, musicians, poets, actors, and visual artists – form a ghostly chorus with whom we sing of the ephemeral, the infinite, and the im/possible.

And we’ll be there!
Interdisciplinary Arts Collective is alchemizing the Little Stages into little worlds. Over the course of a 45-minute performance, audience members can explore the new galaxy dotted across Main Street as constellations of artists use music, movement, and poetry to shape and embody landscapes of sand, metal, growing vines, toxic sludge, and scraps of paper.
Catch our set from 4:30-5:30pm, then stick around to see Battery Percussion Ensemble and Taku Ishikawa & co.
Thursday, October 9. Between 100 S and 200 S on Main Street. Free and open to the public, come and go as you please!
